Cityscoop bliver en del af Bownty

I går forlød det på kontoret, at opkøbet af den populære tilbudsside Cityscoop var gået igennem.

Tidligere i år rejste Bownty 3 millioner kroner i investering fra SEED Capital, med den intention at give forbrugeren overblikket tilbage i junglen af halvpris-tilbud.  Siden 2010, hvor deal industrien tog fart i Danmark, har over 37 deal-sider åbnet dørene til online forbrugere.

Bowntys Adm. Dir., Steffen W. Frølund forklarer det seneste opkøb: “Folk har virkelig forelsket sig i deal-konceptet. Men nu er det på høje tid at gøre servicen endnu bedre. Det betyder at vi skal sikre at oplevelsen med at købe og bruge værdibeviser skal være så nem som mulig. Det gør Bownty og det synes Cityscoop er smart.”

Selvom opkøbets detaljer ikke er offentliggjort, så er det kendt at Cityscoop fremover vil stoppe med at udsende nye deals, og vil operere som en del af Bownty i stedet. Bownty har heller ikke i sinde at udbyde tilbud selv, men blot tilbyde en bedre service overfor de mange loyale Cityscoop-brugere.

Bowntys Adm. Dir., Steffen W. Frølund siger at Bownty ikke nødvendigvis sigter efter flere opkøb af deal sider i den nærmeste fremtid, og i tilfældet med Cityscoop var det blot i fælles interesse at samarbejde.

Bownty attracts 3 mil kroner from SEED Capital

A short while ago we announced that Bownty is ready to invite more bright minds on board. But the most important piece of news in relation to this is the investment funding Bownty received  from one of the largest Danish venture capital funds, SEED Capital.

It is safe to say that 2012 is already proving to become a groundbreaking year on many levels for our fast-growing startup. The funding received from SEED Capital will first and foremost be used to continue to create an even smoother experience of having an overview of great deals for both current and future daily deal shoppers.

The trend of shopping around for daily deals is consistently on the rise in Europe, where daily deal sites are a relatively new phenomenon compared to the U.S. However, the more popular the concept gets, the more daily deal sites there will be popping up. This in turn will make it harder for customers to have a clear overview of the offers out there without having to sign up for every deal sites’ newsletter. For this reason there will be a lot more focus put on spreading Bownty’s reach over and beyond Denmark in 2012.

In the long run the goal remains the same simple one –  avoiding clutter in your inbox from several different deal sites without missing out on great daily offers.
